The Prevadu full-body MRI is designed to complement—but not replace—other screening methods, such as colonoscopy, Pap smears, or low-dose chest CT for individuals at high risk. 1) While the scan can detect a wide range of abnormalities, it may not identify very small tumors that closely resemble surrounding healthy tissue. Typically, lesions can be detected once they reach approximately one centimeter in size, though this threshold can vary by body region—being smaller in areas like the brain and larger in areas such as the chest. 2) The scan may not capture conditions affecting mucosal surfaces (such as those in the mouth, throat, nasal passages, or gastrointestinal tract). 3) Additionally, the exam does not assess the heart or coronary vessels, does not provide detailed imaging of the lungs at the micro level or detect pulmonary micronodules, and is not a substitute for breast-specific imaging like mammography or contrast-enhanced MRI. 4) It is also limited in evaluating the gastrointestinal tract and cannot replace procedures like endoscopy or colonoscopy for detecting issues such as polyps. 5) Joint structures such as ligaments, cartilage, and menisci are not fully evaluated, nor is the skin, which requires a direct physical exam for proper assessment. 6) As with any screening method, certain conditions may go undetected, and this scan is not intended to replace targeted diagnostic imaging when specific medical concerns are present.
